LANCASTER — A driver was arrested on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs after police responded to a report of a man sitting in a restaurant drive-through for over ten minutes on Feb. 21.
According to Lancaster Police Department, restaurant staff reported the male was not speaking clearly before he left the location in an unknown direction.
Patrol officers later observed a vehicle matching the description traveling northbound on Transit Road with its hazard lights on and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers noted the driver had glossy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and drug paraphernalia visible on his lap.
The driver failed standard field sobriety tests but tested negative for alcohol on a roadside breath test.
A Drug Recognition Expert was called to the scene and conducted specialized tests, which the driver also failed.
The driver was taken into custody and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
In other incidents reported between Feb. 21 and Feb. 27, Lancaster police responded to 476 calls for service, including 118 EMS calls.
Police are investigating a petit larceny at a Transit Road grocery store where a male suspect allegedly stole a 65-inch television by exiting through fire doors and placing it in a waiting vehicle.
Officers also arrested a driver on Transit Road for criminal possession of a controlled substance after a traffic stop revealed a suspended license, an active warrant, and what appeared to be crystal meth in the vehicle.
