HILLCREST — A 61-year-old Monroe man faces felony DWI charges after crashing his vehicle into a residence on W. Eckerson Rd. on March 20.
Ramapo Police officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:27 p.m. following a welfare check request from the Spring Valley Police Department.
Officers observed the vehicle traveling into oncoming traffic before it veered off the road, struck a curb, and crashed into a home.
The driver exhibited clear signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, impaired motor function, and an odor of alcohol, according to police.
Numerous open containers of alcohol were found in the vehicle.
Investigation revealed the driver had a prior DWI conviction within the last 10 years, resulting in the felony charge.
No residents of the home were injured during the incident.
