BOSTON — An off-duty police officer arrested a 15-year-old male suspect and recovered a loaded “ghost gun” after hearing gunshots Wednesday afternoon in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood.
The District B-2 officer was leaving work in his personal vehicle around 3:57 p.m. on March 19 when he heard multiple gunshots while driving on Warren Street toward Dudley Street, according to Boston Police.
Upon exiting his vehicle to investigate, the officer spotted a suspect standing in the middle of the street.
The suspect made eye contact with the officer before fleeing the scene.
During the ensuing foot pursuit, the officer observed the suspect clutching his waistband.
The officer apprehended the juvenile in the area of Shabaz Way and Eustis Street, where he recovered a firearm.
Police later determined the weapon was a ghost gun containing one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.
The 15-year-old suspect faces multiple charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, discharging a firearm, and reckless discharge of a firearm.
The juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
