Man arrested after attempted robbery in Auburn

AUBURN — A man was arrested after allegedly threatening victims with a knife during an attempted robbery on Clark Street, according to Auburn Police.

Officers responded to a reported robbery at approximately 4 a.m. on March 15 at a residence on Clark Street.

Police were advised that the suspect, later identified as Zackary Harvey, had fled the scene after 911 was called.

Officers located and detained Harvey before responding to speak with the victims.

According to police, a domestic dispute had occurred during which Harvey allegedly used a knife to threaten victims in an attempt to forcibly take a purse.

After a physical altercation and failed attempt to take the purse, Harvey fled the scene.

Harvey was transported to Cayuga County Jail where he was held pending arraignment.

He faces charges of attempted robbery in the first degree, a class C felony; criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a class D felony; and menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
