GREENWICH — On March 18, State Police, with the assistance of the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, arrested Timothy W. Lapoint, 54, of Granville, on charges related to child sexual exploitation.
Lapoint was charged with Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “D” felony, and Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony.
His arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at his Granville residence on March 18.
The investigation was initiated following a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Lapoint was transported to SP Greenwich for arrest and processing.
He was subsequently taken to the Washington County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
Lapoint was remanded to the Washington County Correctional Facility, with bail set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or a $20,000 partially secured bond.
