GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Police Department arrested a 53-year-old Albany man on March 20 in connection with a loaded pistol recovered from Crossgates Mall in 2021.

Akili-Abdul Duncan was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony.

The arrest follows a lengthy investigation during which the Guilderland Police Department received assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and the Rensselaer Police Department.

Officials noted that Duncan does not possess a New York State Pistol Permit.

Duncan was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court before Judge Tabak, who set bail.

He was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility following the arraignment.
