SOMERVILLE — Somerville police arrested a man after responding to reports of shots fired near McGrath Highway on March 16.
Officers responded to the area of 771 McGrath Highway at approximately 3:38 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, police located five spent shell casings in the area of 11 Blakeley Avenue.
A witness told officers he heard loud bangs and then observed a male walking down Cross Street toward Blakeley Avenue.
Shortly after, officers located a male matching the description provided by the witness and found a handgun in his backpack.
The suspect was placed under arrest.
In a separate incident on March 14, police arrested a man after a breaking and entering on Elm Street.
The victim reported she was in her bedroom when she observed a male staring at her.
After she yelled at him, the suspect fled the residence.
Officers located the suspect at a nearby business and placed him under arrest.
Police also responded to several other incidents, including a residential break-in on Concord Avenue on March 13, where a bicycle and electric scooter were stolen from a common basement area.
On March 15, officers responded to a residence on Broadway for another breaking and entering report, where the victim reported numerous documents missing from her apartment.
Additional reports included two assault cases, two vandalisms, one bike theft, one motor vehicle theft, and one car break-in.
