PITTSFIELD — Two 19-year-old males were arrested Wednesday evening after police discovered one was carrying a loaded handgun.
Anti-Crime Unit officers working in plain clothes observed the pair walking northbound on North Street at approximately 7:15 p.m. on March 19.
Officers recognized one of the males carrying a bottle of liquor, which prompted further observation.
Through investigative techniques, officers developed reason to believe the second male was illegally carrying a firearm.
When officers attempted to speak with the males, both tried to distance themselves from police.
Officers noted the males’ actions and demeanor suggested they were contemplating fleeing the scene.
Police quickly closed in and apprehended both individuals.
During the arrest, officers located a fully loaded handgun with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in an attached magazine.
One male was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, and possessing ammunition without a license.
The second male was arrested and charged with possession of alcohol under 21 years of age.
