HOPKINTON — A 35-year-old Merrimack man was arrested Thursday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase through multiple New Hampshire towns Wednesday night.
Eric Dearborn was taken into custody in Concord on charges of disobeying an officer and reckless operation, according to New Hampshire State Police.
The pursuit began at 11 p.m. Wednesday when officers from Hillsboro, Henniker, and Hopkinton police departments attempted to stop a 2015 Toyota Tundra traveling at high speed on Route 202/9.
Troopers from State Police Troop D and Troop B joined the pursuit as the vehicle continued onto Route 77 in Weare, heading eastbound toward Dunbarton.
At the intersection of Routes 77 and 13, Trooper Kyle Cotnoir successfully deployed spike strips, deflating one of the Toyota’s tires.
Despite the damaged tire, the driver continued fleeing as State Police took over primary pursuit through Bow and Concord before entering Interstate 89 northbound.
Near the Hopkinton town line, a Hillsboro police officer deployed spike strips again, bringing the vehicle to a stop around mile marker 6.
Dearborn fled on foot into the woods while a passenger was detained at the scene.
Investigators believe Dearborn escaped through the woods and was picked up by an unknown person.
Dearborn was located and arrested Thursday morning by Concord Police after another attempt to flee, adding a charge of resisting arrest to his warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities ask anyone with information to contact Trooper Kelsey Scott at 603-223-4381 or Kelsey.P.Scott@dos.nh.gov.
