Madawaska woman arrested in drug trafficking operation

MADAWASKA — A Madawaska woman was arrested on drug trafficking charges following an extensive investigation by local and federal authorities.

The arrest occurred on March 19 after the Madawaska Police Department, Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) and U.S. Border Patrol executed a search warrant at her residence at 8 a.m.

Investigators discovered methamphetamine, prescription pills and large sums of cash during the search.

The woman faces charges of Trafficking of Methamphetamine and Aggravated Furnishing of a Scheduled Drug and was transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

Two additional individuals present at the residence were also taken to the Aroostook County Jail on outstanding warrants.

A male suspect was charged with violating conditions of release and unlawful possession of methamphetamine as part of the same investigation.

The Madawaska Police Department continues to investigate drug activity in the area and encourages community members to report suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
