HOLYOKE — A 33-year-old Chicopee man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attempting to entice a high school student into his truck, according to Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan.

School Resource Officer Manny Rivera received information at approximately 7:50 a.m. that a student had been approached by a man in a white pickup truck near Oak Street and West Franklin Street while walking to school.

Officers located the unoccupied vehicle on Franklin Street within 30 minutes of the report.

Police identified the driver as Justin Mangual and found him inside an apartment on Maple Street.

During a search of the apartment, officers discovered approximately 100 vials of crack cocaine.

After obtaining permission to search the truck, police recovered a loaded rifle.

Mangual, who has a prior conviction for possession of a firearm without an FID Card, did not have a license to carry or a driver’s license, according to police.

He was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and carrying a firearm without an FID Card – subsequent offense.

The investigation is ongoing, with Holyoke Police detectives continuing to investigate the enticement allegations and narcotics recovered in the apartment.
