GATES — Gates Police Department, in collaboration with the Greece Police Department, has made an arrest in connection to a shots fired incident reported on Feb. 17.
The incident involved a suspect firing multiple rounds into a residence on Albert St and fleeing the scene.
Gates Police Officers initially recovered several .40 caliber bullet casings at the location.
During the investigation conducted by the Gates Police Criminal Investigation Division, a suspect vehicle was identified as having fled the scene.
This information was shared with local law enforcement agencies.
On Feb. 24, Greece Police Officers received a plate reader alert for the suspect vehicle linked to the Gates incident.
Greece officers located the vehicle and detained 22-year-old Jalen Hannah from Irondequoit.
Upon detention, Hannah was found in possession of a Glock .40 caliber handgun.
He was charged by Greece Police for possessing the handgun without a permit.
Subsequent tests by the Monroe County Crime Lab confirmed that the handgun matched the .40 caliber casings recovered from the scene in Gates.
On Wednesday, Hannah surrendered himself to Gates Police.
He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree (Class C Felony) and Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree (Class D Felony).
Hannah was arraigned by Gates Justice Cassara and is being held at Monroe County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $250,000 bond.
