EAST FISHKILL — The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Kieran T. Maddock, 41, of Fishkill, following an alleged “swatting” incident on March 18.

“Swatting” involves making a prank call to emergency services intending to dispatch a large armed police presence to a specific location.

Authorities say the Sheriff’s Office and Town of East Fishkill Police responded to a report of several shots fired at an East Fishkill residence just after 6 a.m. on March 18.

Upon arrival, officials determined there was no emergency, and the call was identified as a prank.

After further investigation by Sheriff’s Office Detectives, Maddock was taken into custody later that day.

He is charged with falsely reporting an incident in the second degree, a felony.

Maddock was processed, arraigned in the Town of East Fishkill Court, and released.

He is scheduled to reappear in court on April 2 at 5 p.m.

The investigation was aided by the Town of East Fishkill Police.
