FAIRFAX — State Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision involving a marked Vermont State Police cruiser that occurred Wednesday at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Main Street.

According to preliminary investigation, a 2018 Toyota Tundra driven by Brayden Rabtoy, 24, of Fairfax, was traveling south on Main Street and attempting to turn left into a driveway on the east side of the road.

At the same time, a 2022 Ford Explorer police cruiser operated by Trooper Adam Martin, 24, of Swanton, was also traveling south and attempted to pass Rabtoy’s vehicle in the northbound lane.

As Martin’s vehicle was passing, Rabtoy turned left, resulting in a collision with the passenger side of the police cruiser.

Investigators noted that Trooper Martin was not utilizing his emergency blue lights or siren at the time of the incident.

Neither operator was injured in the crash, which occurred under clear and dry conditions at dusk.

Both vehicles sustained damage but remained operational and were driven away from the scene.

Rabtoy was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, while Martin was not, according to the report.
