ALBANY — State Police arrested a 61-year-old Albany man on Wednesday for possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.
Jay C. Cordero was charged with Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child, a class “E” felony, according to authorities.
The arrest followed an investigation by State Police of Latham, with assistance from the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Officials executed a search warrant at Cordero’s Albany residence on March 19 at 10 a.m.
The investigation began after police received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Cordero was transported to SP Latham for processing and later released with an appearance ticket.
He is scheduled to appear in Albany City Court on March 26.
