WAYLAND — New York State Police have arrested five teenagers and one adult following an investigation into an assault at an underage drinking party in the town of Wayland, Steuben County.

Troopers responded to SP Wayland on March 15 after receiving a complaint from a victim who reported being assaulted by multiple individuals at a party held at 2478 County Route 50.

Through interviews and video evidence provided by the victim, police identified five individuals involved in the assault: four juvenile females, ages 15-17, and Nickayla Wise, 18, of Wayland.

The investigation revealed that the altercation stemmed from an ongoing personal dispute between the victim and one of the 17-year-old females.

Video evidence showed a 17-year-old female initiating the assault, followed by the other juveniles and Wise joining the attack, according to police.

On March 16, all five suspects were arrested and charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Each was issued a Family Court Appearance Ticket returnable to Steuben County Family Court on March 25 at 10 a.m.

Wise faces an additional charge of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and was issued an appearance ticket for Wayland Town Court on April 2 at 11 a.m.

Further investigation led to the identification of Dylan James McDonald, 19, of Wayland, as the host of the underage drinking party.

McDonald was charged with violating Steuben County’s social host law and first-degree unlawful dealing with a child, a misdemeanor.

He is scheduled to appear in Wayland Town Court on April 9 at 11 a.m.
