LEWISTON — A single-vehicle crash Wednesday night left a father and his infant daughter dead and the child’s mother in critical condition after their car struck a tree on Grove Street.
Lewiston Police responded to the area of 393 Grove St. at approximately 10:45 p.m. following reports of a vehicle that had gone off the road.
First responders found the driver, 20-year-old Tyrell Willigar of Brunswick, deceased at the scene.
Two passengers, 20-year-old Adaysia Read and 7-month-old Kinsley Willigar, were transported in critical condition to Central Maine Medical Center and later transferred to Maine Medical Center.
Police reported Thursday morning that 7-month-old Kinsley Willigar had died from her injuries.
Read, the infant’s mother, remains in critical condition.
The Lewiston Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigation Division are investigating the crash.
Preliminary findings indicate speed was a contributing factor in the accident involving the 2016 Toyota Corolla.
