LLOYD — Two men were arrested after state troopers discovered ghost guns during a traffic stop in the town of Lloyd on March 18.
Members of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit observed a 2021 GMC traveling on Route 9W committing several violations of the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law at approximately 8:05 p.m.
Troopers identified the driver as Jarred S. Suitter, 37, of Kingston, and the passenger as Trent M. Heiney, 29, of Accord.
During the interview, troopers observed an open container of alcohol, prompting an impairment investigation that revealed Suitter was driving while intoxicated.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered two 9MM Polymer 80 Ghost Guns, leading to the arrest of both men.
Suitter was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, driving while intoxicated, and multiple traffic violations.
Heiney faces two counts each of criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree.
Both men were arraigned in the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part on March 19 and released on their own recognizance.
They are scheduled to appear in the Town of Lloyd Court on March 20 at 3 p.m.
