JOHNSTON — State troopers assisted the Violent Fugitive Task Force in arresting Mitchell Savard, 28, of Johnston, at 6:04 a.m. Tuesday at his residence on Charlies Way.

Savard was taken into custody on eight outstanding warrants from multiple police departments across Rhode Island.

The warrants included charges of felony assault and/or battery with a firearm, possession of a firearm, eluding police in a high-speed pursuit, obstruction of an officer, vandalism, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and reckless driving.

Two of the warrants were Providence Superior Court bench warrants for failure to appear and a technical violation on original charges of reckless driving and manufacturing/delivery/possession with intent to distribute.

The arrest resulted from an investigation by members of the Scituate Barracks and troopers accompanying the Violent Fugitive Task Force during a residence check.

Savard was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing before being transferred to Sixth District Court for arraignment.
