LOVELL — A Stoneham woman was arrested Wednesday morning after leading Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies on an 11-mile pursuit that began near New Suncook School.

Sydney Whitelaw, 34, was charged with criminal speed and eluding an officer following the incident that began at approximately 7:50 a.m. on Route 5 in Lovell.

A deputy conducting traffic enforcement observed a red 2020 Jeep Cherokee traveling northbound in what authorities described as a reckless and unsafe manner.

Suspecting the driver might be impaired, the deputy activated emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop.

Whitelaw allegedly refused to pull over and fled northbound on Route 5 through Lovell and into Stoneham.

The pursuit ended when Whitelaw pulled into her residence and stopped, according to the sheriff’s office.

When she attempted to exit the vehicle, deputies quickly took her into custody.

No other occupants were in the Jeep at the time of the incident.

Additional Oxford County deputies and Fryeburg Police Department officers responded to assist.

Whitelaw was transported to the Oxford County Jail for booking.
