WORCESTER — The Worcester Police Department issued a warning Thursday about scammers impersonating police officers and demanding payment for supposed “outstanding warrants.”
According to a public service announcement released at 2 p.m., multiple residents have reported receiving calls from individuals falsely claiming to be Worcester Police officers.
The scammers tell victims they must pay a fee to resolve an outstanding warrant.
Police officials emphasized that the department never contacts individuals by phone to request money.
Residents who receive such calls are advised to contact the Worcester Police Department immediately.
