Highland police arrest 5 on various charges

HIGHLAND — The Town of Lloyd Police Department has arrested five individuals on various charges ranging from driving while intoxicated to assault, according to a press release.

Frank J. Moreno, 44, of Scarsdale, was arrested March 16 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree and driving while intoxicated after being stopped for traffic violations on Route 44/55 in Highland.

Moreno was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lloyd Court on April 3.

Jahaira Alvarez, 25, of Newburgh, was arrested March 10 and charged with petit larceny and conspiracy in the sixth degree.

Alvarez is accused of stealing approximately $65 worth of merchandise from the Hannaford Store in Highland and was released with a court date of March 18.

Alyssa M. Mayer, 34, of Saugerties, was arrested March 7 and charged with bail jumping in the third degree.

Mayer was released and was due back in the Town of Lloyd Court on March 13.

John J. Turner Jr., 31, of Highland, was arrested March 14 and charged with assault in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

Turner is accused of assaulting his 5-year-old child, causing facial injuries, and was transported to the Ulster County Jail for arraignment in Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.

Amya M. Wallace, 24, of Newburgh, was arrested March 11 on a bench warrant for petit larceny.

Wallace was transported to the Ulster County Jail for arraignment in Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
