Connelly man arrested after domestic dispute in Esopus

ESOPUS — A 23-year-old Connelly man was arrested following a domestic dispute on Center Street in the Town of Esopus, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to reports of a physical altercation at approximately 7:52 p.m. on March 14.

The investigation alleges the man forced his way into the victim’s apartment, punched her in the head, and confined her to a bedroom, refusing to allow her to leave.

Authorities say the incident occurred in the presence of two young children.

The victim had an active order of protection against the man at the time of the incident.

The suspect faces multiple charges including second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal contempt, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor charges of second-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Following his arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Part Court, the man was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Esopus Town Court at a later date.
