Wallkill man arrested after assault at local business

WALLKILL — A 23-year-old Wallkill man was arrested following an assault that left another resident with a laceration to his left forearm, police said.

Town of Wallkill Police Officers Michael Medina and Lisa Schievelbein responded to reports of an assault at 755 Route 17M on Friday, March 14, at approximately 6:12 p.m.

Officers found a 53-year-old male Wallkill resident injured at the scene.

The victim was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center by Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services.

An investigation by Detectives Robert Reid and Michael Condon led to the arrest of Devin Soto, police said.

Soto was charged with assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and menacing in the second degree.

Following his arraignment by Central Arraignment Judge Anika C. Mohammad, Soto was remanded to Orange County Jail without bail.

His next court appearance is scheduled for March 19 at 9 a.m. in the Town of Wallkill Court.
