LOCKE MILLS — A 17-year-old girl has been missing for over a week after being dropped off while hitchhiking in western Maine, according to family members and local authorities.

Jadyn Gilbert was last seen on Monday, March 10, around 2 p.m. when she was dropped off at Hart Lane in Locke Mills, reportedly attempting to reach Rumford.

Her mother, Kayce Gilbert, has filed a missing persons report with the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department after exhausting numerous avenues to locate her daughter.

According to Gilbert, no one has had contact with Jadyn in a week, and she has not logged into any social media platforms.

The teen does not have a cell phone, limiting her means of communication.

Gilbert described the extended absence without contact as “very unlike her” daughter’s typical behavior.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about Jadyn’s whereabouts or who may have seen her since March 10 to contact the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department.
