PENN YAN — A 55-year-old Penn Yan man was arrested on drunk driving charges after crashing his vehicle into a tree on Franklin Street, according to local police.
Sirino Martinez was taken into custody by Penn Yan Police Department officers following the single-vehicle crash.
Authorities said Martinez was operating his vehicle while intoxicated when he lost control and struck the tree.
Martinez was charged with driving while intoxicated, moving from lane unsafely and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Police reported that Martinez refused to perform sobriety tests and declined chemical analysis testing.
He was held at the Yates County Jail to await arraignment in CAP Court Monday at 9 a.m.
Martinez is scheduled to reappear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer the charges.
