PITTSFIELD — A New Jersey man was arrested Friday in connection with passing counterfeit $100 bills throughout the region, according to the Pittsfield Police Department.
Officers from the Anti-Crime Unit apprehended the suspect on March 14 at 3 p.m. after he was identified through a social media post last week.
The suspect is scheduled for arraignment this week in Berkshire District Court.
Police said further investigation revealed the man was also a person of interest in several other counterfeit currency cases across Berkshire County, Hampden County and Connecticut.
During the arrest, officers recovered more than a dozen additional counterfeit $100 bills, all bearing the same serial number.
