PENN YAN — A Dundee man was arrested after police say he falsely reported that local businesses were contaminating flour with metal screws.

Barry G. Stryker, 65, was charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.

Police said Stryker filed a complaint alleging that businesses were placing screw bits into flour and selling it for human consumption with the intent to harm people.

An investigation determined the allegations were baseless and revealed that Stryker had purchased the screw bits himself before submitting them to police as alleged evidence.

Stryker was processed at the police department and released on an appearance ticket to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
