FALMOUTH — A two-vehicle crash on the Maine Turnpike early Sunday led to the arrest of a Lewiston man who fled the scene on foot, according to Maine State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash near mile marker 55 southbound in Falmouth at approximately 2:38 a.m. on March 16.

Upon arrival, officers found two damaged vehicles in the median.

Patrick Blair, 61, of Lewiston, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Maine Medical Center, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

The second driver, Joshua Uwimana, 30, also of Lewiston, fled the scene on foot.

A K9 track located Uwimana approximately one mile south of the crash on the shoulder of the turnpike.

Uwimana showed signs of intoxication and was arrested, police said.

The crash led to a full shutdown of the southbound lanes for several hours, with traffic being diverted at Exit 63.

The Kennebunk Police Department assisted with crash reconstruction, while Gorham Police Department and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office also provided support.
