PLATTEKILL — Two New Jersey residents were arrested after state police discovered a loaded “ghost gun” during a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway Thursday night.

Troopers from SP Tarrytown observed a black 2009 Volkswagen traveling northbound on I-87 in the town of Plattekill at 9:53 p.m. March 13 for an alleged vehicle and traffic law violation.

During the stop, troopers identified the driver as Ashley R. Clair, 26, and the passenger as Adreon S. Clair, 26, both of Paterson.

A roadside investigation led to the discovery of a loaded Polymer80 9mm “ghost gun” handgun in the vehicle, according to police.

Both individuals were taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony, and criminal possession of a firearm, a class E felony.

The suspects were held pending arraignment at Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Court.
