CATSKILL — New York State Police arrested four individuals on driving while intoxicated charges during a series of traffic stops in the Catskill region over a two-day period in early March.
Barbara Gardner, 58, of Leeds, was arrested March 7 at approximately 9 p.m. after fleeing from a traffic stop on Five Mile Woods Road in Catskill.
Troopers initially stopped Gardner’s 2023 Jeep for multiple vehicle and traffic violations before she fled the scene, according to police.
Gardner eventually stopped and surrendered to authorities, recording a blood alcohol content of .17%, more than twice the legal limit.
She faces multiple charges including reckless driving, DWI, unlawful fleeing, and obstructing governmental administration, and is scheduled to appear in Town of Catskill Court on March 27 at 4 p.m.
Later that same night, at approximately 11:53 p.m., troopers responded to a report of an intoxicated driver on Summitville Road in Mamakating.
Officers found Olivia M. Yonnetti, 46, of Kerhonkson, pulled over with her 2014 Volkswagen still running.
Yonnetti showed clear signs of impairment and was arrested for aggravated DWI after recording a BAC of .24%, three times the legal limit.
She is scheduled to appear in Town of Mamakating Court on April 10 at 9 a.m.
The following evening, March 8, troopers arrested Christian S. Vargas, 33, of Jeffersonville, after stopping his 2014 Jeep on Broadway in Monticello at approximately 9:48 p.m.
Vargas recorded a BAC of .19% and was charged with aggravated DWI, with a court appearance scheduled for March 24 at 9 a.m. in Village of Monticello Court.
Earlier that same evening, at approximately 7:17 p.m., troopers stopped Erasmo Marroquin Castillo, 29, of Monroe, driving a 2010 Honda Accord on State Route 17.
Marroquin Castillo, who did not possess a New York State driver’s license, recorded a BAC of .21% and was charged with aggravated DWI.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Monroe Court on April 21.
