Maine police investigate fatal shooting at Palmyra home

PALMYRA — A 28-year-old Massachusetts man was found dead from a gunshot wound at a residence in Palmyra early Wednesday morning, according to Maine State Police.

Somerset County deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at 531 Madawaska Road at approximately 1:33 a.m. on March 12.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Jaquan Humphries of Mattapan, Massachusetts, deceased inside the home where he had been living.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit – Central and Evidence Response Technicians conducted an investigation at the scene throughout the day.

Humphries’ body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.

Medical examiners determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound and ruled the death a homicide.

Authorities stated there is no known danger to the public at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
