BROOKLYN — A 22-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested Thursday following a year-long investigation into a sexually motivated attack at Shirley Chisolm State Park.
Amadou Kane faces a 19-count indictment including charges of first-degree robbery, attempted first-degree rape, strangulation, assault and menacing, according to the New York State Police.
Kane is accused of entering the Brooklyn park on a bicycle in September 2023, where he allegedly strangled, robbed and attempted to sexually assault a female victim who was walking in the park.
Investigators identified Kane after reviewing “countless hours of video surveillance,” analyzing electronic devices and examining bank records, police said.
Following his arrest by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Kane was processed at the NYPD’s 75th precinct and held at Kings County Central Booking.
On March 14, Kane was transferred to Riker’s Island Correctional Facility pending arraignment.
