2 arrested in Olean drug bust after traffic stop

OLEAN — Two Allegany residents were arrested after deputies discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop in Olean early Friday morning.

Jonathan E. Colon, 40, and Kari L. Jolin, 42, were taken into custody at approximately 1:38 a.m. on March 14 when Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies stopped their vehicle on North 12th Street.

Deputies observed drug paraphernalia in plain view during the stop, leading to a search of the vehicle.

Colon was found in possession of 23.4 grams of suspected methamphetamine, four buprenorphine pills, packaging materials, a scale, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jolin was found with a quantity of methamphetamine, packaging materials, a scale, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia.

K9 Lex assisted with secondary searches of the vehicle.

Both suspects were transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Jolin was released on an appearance ticket for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Colon faces more serious charges including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree.

Colon was arraigned in Olean City Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail without bail.

Jolin is scheduled to appear in Olean City Court at a later date.
