CORTLANDVILLE — A Cortland man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly striking another man with a sock filled with rocks during an altercation.
Gordon L. Darling, 51, was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, according to New York State Police at Homer.
Troopers responded to a residence on Tower Road in Cortlandville at approximately 6:30 p.m. after the Cortland County 911 Center received reports of a disturbance between two males.
Investigators determined that Darling and another man got into a physical altercation outside the residence, during which Darling struck the victim in the head with a sock filled with rocks.
The victim was transported by TLC Ambulance to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Darling was processed at the State Police barracks in Homer and transported to the Cortland County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
