WILTON — A registered sex offender was arrested Wednesday after police executed a search warrant at his residence following an investigation into online sexual activity with a minor.

Austin Fredette, 25, of 66A Maple Street, was taken into custody by Wilton Police on multiple charges including possession of child sex abuse images and endangering the welfare of a child.

The investigation began Jan. 13 when police received a report that Fredette, a Tier 3 registered sex offender, was allegedly engaging in inappropriate online sexual activity with a minor.

Police obtained a search warrant from a Superior Court judge and executed it at Fredette’s residence at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Fredette faces additional charges of failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements and being a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon.

He is being held without bail pending arraignment scheduled for Thursday.

The Wilton Police Department received assistance from the New Hampshire Internet Crime Against Children Task Force, Merrimack and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Departments, and Derry and Merrimack Police Departments.
