ALBANY, NY — A 35-year-old Albany man has been charged after allegedly slashing another man in the face with a knife during a confrontation on Broad Street.
Joseph Brennan faces counts of second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon following the Tuesday morning attack.
According to police, a 42-year-old male victim walked into South Station around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, to report he had been slashed in the face with a knife at his Broad Street residence near Schuyler Street.
The victim received initial treatment from emergency medical personnel at the station before being transported to Albany Memorial Hospital.
Investigators determined the suspect had kicked the victim’s front door multiple times before being confronted, at which point the suspect slashed the victim’s face and fled the scene.
Albany Police Department officers later spotted Brennan in the area of Steuben Street and North Pearl Street and took him into custody.
Brennan was arraigned yesterday afternoon in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
