ROCKINGHAM — Two people died and two others were injured in a crash on Interstate 91 during snowy conditions Saturday morning.
Taylor Binnington, 39, of North Haven, Connecticut, was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 struck a stopped fuel tanker at mile marker 33 northbound at 9:46 a.m.
Binnington’s 4-month-old son, Parry Lake, was life-flighted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where he later died from his injuries.
Evelyn Lake, 36, and the couple’s 3-year-old son suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
The driver of the 2024 Peterbilt fuel tanker, Michael Warner, 40, of Nelson, New Hampshire, was not injured in the collision.
According to Vermont State Police, multiple northbound vehicles were involved in minor crashes and slide-offs due to icy road conditions and low visibility caused by a snow squall.
The fuel tanker had stopped due to crashes ahead when Binnington’s vehicle was unable to stop on the slippery roadway and rear-ended the truck.
The Hyundai sustained substantial front-end damage, while the tanker received minor rear-end damage.
All occupants of the Hyundai were properly restrained with seat belts or car seats at the time of the crash.
