Pedestrian struck while crossing Route 1A in Holden

HOLDEN — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Tuesday night while attempting to cross Route 1A near Copeland Hill Road.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. when Daniel Hines, 49, of Bangor, attempted to cross the highway to reach an Uber vehicle.

Rebecca Saulnier, 39, of Dedham, was driving eastbound on Route 1A when her vehicle struck Hines.

Hines, who was wearing dark clothing and was intoxicated at the time, sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The Holden Police Department responded to the scene and the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office reconstruction team assisted with processing the crash site.
