STAMFORD — The Stamford Police Department, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the New York City Police Department, has successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with the theft of multiple firearms from local storage units.

On Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, 2024, the Stamford Police Patrol Division responded to reports of burglaries at two storage facilities: CubeSmart, located at 420 Shippan Avenue, and Extra Space Storage, located at 1934 W. Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that storage containers had been forcibly entered, and firearms had been stolen.

A meticulous investigation was launched by the Stamford Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations Property Unit.

Their efforts led to the identification of Joshua Casiano, born May 31, 1988, of the Bronx, N.Y., as the primary suspect in the case.

Following a coordinated effort between Stamford Property Crimes Detectives, the FBI, and the NYPD, Casiano was apprehended in New York City.

A search warrant executed at his Bronx residence resulted in the recovery of several stolen handguns and additional evidence linking him to the crimes.

On Monday, March 3, Casiano was extradited to Connecticut to face multiple felony charges, including larceny, burglary, conspiracy to commit larceny, and 47 counts of theft of a firearm.

The Stamford Superior Court has set Casiano’s bond at $1,000,000.
