OXFORD — Oxford police officers successfully deployed tire deflation devices to stop a suspect who led multiple agencies on a high-speed chase through town Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:08 a.m., the Oxford Police Department was notified that Charlton police were pursuing a suspect in a 2016 black Toyota Camry who had failed to stop for law enforcement.

The vehicle was heading north on Main Street toward the Oxford Police Station at speeds estimated to exceed 80 miles per hour.

Oxford officers, including those working extra-duty traffic details, positioned themselves along Main Street with Stop Stick tire deflation devices.

An Oxford cruiser joined the pursuit as the suspect vehicle passed the police station.

The suspect continued northbound, weaving through traffic and ignoring traffic laws, according to police.

Near 732 Main Street, an Oxford officer successfully deployed a Stop Stick, deflating the suspect’s tires.

Despite having damaged tires, the driver continued onto Route 20 in Auburn, where Charlton, Auburn, and Massachusetts State Police took him into custody.

Town surveillance footage confirmed the suspect had driven recklessly throughout Oxford, including driving onto a sidewalk and making an erratic U-turn on Main Street.

The suspect will be summoned to Dudley District Court on charges of negligent operation of a motor vehicle and was issued a citation.

Additional charges may be filed by Charlton, Auburn, and Massachusetts State Police.

No civilians or officers were injured during the incident.
