NORRIDGEWOCK — The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded to a residence on River Road on Saturday at approximately 9:25 a.m. following a request from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
The request came after a 911 call reported a shooting at the residence.
Officers arrived to find a deceased male, 38-year-old Christopher Nickerson, who had been staying at the home.
Nickerson’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.
The initial investigation led to the arrest of 59-year-old Daniel Markey, a resident of the home, on a murder charge.
Markey was transported to the Somerset County Jail.
He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance today at 1:00 p.m.
