CLIFTON PARK — State Police arrested Rhett W. Thornton, 36, of Clifton Park for promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
Thornton faces charges of promoting a sexual performance by a child, a class D felony, and possessing a sexual performance by a child, a class E felony.
Authorities accuse Thornton of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation.
The arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at Thornton’s Clifton Park residence, conducted on Feb. 26.
The investigation originated from a cyber tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Thornton was taken into custody at his home and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing.
He was arraigned at the Clifton Park Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility.
Thornton remains in custody in lieu of $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or a $50,000 partially secured bond.
