HOMER — A 53-year-old Pharsalia man was arrested Tuesday morning following a traffic stop on Clinton Street for failing to stop at a red light, according to the Homer Police Department.

The suspect, identified as Jose A. Cruz, initially provided officers with a false name and date of birth during the traffic stop, police said.

After repeatedly warning Cruz about the consequences of providing false information, officers were able to determine his true identity and discovered he had an outstanding warrant from the Town of Camillus Police Department for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree.

Further investigation revealed that Cruz was operating the vehicle with suspended driving privileges and without registration.

Cruz was taken into custody without incident and processed at the Homer Police Department.

He was released on appearance and traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Homer Court on March 18 at 5 p.m. to face charges of false personation, aggravated unlicensed operation, failure to stop at a steady red light, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

The Town of Camillus declined to extradite Cruz regarding the warrant.
