UNION VALE — The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal two-car crash that occurred on Clove Road in the Town of Union Vale at approximately 6:32 p.m. on Feb. 27.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2004 Nissan sedan, traveling north on Clove Road, lost control at a sharp curve north of the West Clove Mountain Road intersection.
The Nissan entered the southbound lane and was struck by a black Ford Ranger traveling south.
The driver of the Nissan required extrication from her vehicle.
Both drivers were transported from the scene with injuries.
The Nissan’s driver, identified as 18-year-old Sarah McAllister of Dover, was pronounced dead at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital due to her injuries.
Excessive speed, damp roadways, and aggressive driving are believed to be primary factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
