BOSTON — On Thursday, Feb. 27, members of the Boston Police Department’s Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a 17-year-old male on firearm charges at 333 Warren Street, Roxbury.

The arrest followed awareness of ongoing incidents involving juveniles at a nearby McDonald’s located at 301 Warren Street, which had raised safety concerns for patrons and neighborhood residents.

While patrolling near Warren Street and Dale Street, officers observed two males standing in front of the McDonald’s. One was dressed in all black with a hood, and the other wore a brown coat over a red hooded sweatshirt.

Both appeared hypervigilant upon noticing the officers.

As the officers entered the McDonald’s parking lot, the male in black was seen peering around the building’s corner, monitoring their movements, before he began walking briskly away. The second male in the brown coat then disappeared from view.

Officers approached the male in black, identified him as a 17-year-old from Boston, and launched an investigation. They discovered a silver Phoenix Arms .22LR firearm lying between two vehicles along the path where the second male had fled, with a round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.

A pat-frisk of the 17-year-old revealed a Glock 19 firearm in his coat pocket, loaded with one 9mm round in the chamber and 13 rounds in the magazine. The Glock 19 was confirmed to have been reported stolen from Burlington.

Both firearms were secured by the Youth Violence Strike Force detectives.

The 17-year-old was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Juvenile Court on charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded weapon, and receiving stolen property.
