WARREN — Vermont State Police are investigating a death after a car fire in Warren on Monday morning revealed a body inside the vehicle.

The fire was reported at approximately 11:30 a.m. at a parking area on 500 Vermont Route 100.

Warren Fire Department responded to the scene, extinguishing the blaze and discovering the deceased individual in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

The victim has been identified as Jeremiah Wild, 29, of Craftsbury following an autopsy conducted at the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.

The autopsy determined the cause of death to be thermal burns and smoke inhalation, with the manner of death classified as undetermined.

Vermont State Police, including troopers, a detective from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, and a detective from the Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, conducted initial investigations at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, though initial evidence suggests the incident is not suspicious.

Police are requesting anyone with information to contact the Berlin Barracks or submit an anonymous tip online.
