State police take barricaded suspect into custody in Norfolk

NORFOLK — State Police and the Special Operations Response Team took a Massena man into custody without incident Wednesday following a standoff at a residence in Norfolk.

Scott P. Sharpe, 54, was transported to Claxton Hepburn Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

State Police initially responded to Brouse Road in Norfolk at approximately 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a possible domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence.

Troopers established a secure perimeter while the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team was deployed to assist.

Authorities also utilized the Crisis Negotiation Unit, Unmanned Aerial System, and Bureau of Criminal Investigations.

Officials said there was no threat to the public, and the situation remained under control throughout the response.

The investigation is ongoing.
