NEWBURGH — City of Newburgh police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred Sept. 27 at William Street and South William Street.
At approximately 11:35 p.m. on the night of the incident, officers responded to reports of gunfire and found four 9-millimeter shell casings at the scene.
The case was assigned to the City of Newburgh’s Non-Fatal Shooting Team, which identified a suspect and drafted criminal charges.
On Feb. 17, Officer Hurtado, Officer Alvarez, Officer Meyer and Officer Gil responded to a call and spotted the suspect. They took him into custody without incident.
Police identified the suspect as Jyaire Adams, a 20-year-old Newburgh resident. He has been charged with felony weapons possession.
