Halfmoon man charged with felony criminal mischief, assault in domestic incident

HALFMOON — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office responded to an active domestic incident on Friar’s Gate in Halfmoon on Sunday at 8:48 p.m.

Following an investigation, deputies arrested Charles E. Hopper Jr., 39, of Halfmoon, charging him with third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony, and third-degree assault, a class A misdemeanor.

Hopper is accused of intentionally damaging a cellphone and a television belonging to another person, with the damage exceeding $250.

He is also charged with causing physical injury to another person by punching them in the face, sides, and back.

Hopper was arraigned before Judge Robert A. Rybak in Clifton Park Town Court and released on his own recognizance pending further proceedings in Halfmoon Town Court.

The victim was transported to Saratoga Hospital by EMS for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
